The DEFCON Warning System Desktop App 6.0

INSTALLATION

Double-click on the file DEFCON-Warning-System-6.0-Setup.exe and it will self-install.

If you get a screen from your anti-virus, it is okay to run. Windows Defender will have a link that says "More Info". Click that, then click on the "Run anyway" button.

You can select where to install, as well as whether or not to have a shortcut on your desktop. OPERATION

The app will poll the DEFCON Warning System site every 10 minutes for the current alert code.

Additionally, the app will poll our Bluesky account and display any new post we make to that account.

If you right click on the tray icon, you can set the app up to play a sound when the alert level is increased. It defaults to both being on. You can also toggle the autorun on and off.

You will probably need to tell Windows to display the icon on your taskbar. (It defaults to Hidden.) Right click on your task bar. Choose Taskbar settings. Select Other System Tray Icons. Toggle DEFCON Warning System to On. The icon will now be seen on the taskbar instead of being grouped with the hidden ones.
